NPM Construction won the tender to complete a 3 classroom new build at Whangarei Girls high School. Due to the significant role growth at the school, the new classrooms were needed to accommodate more students & included break out space, resource room & staff, student & disabled toilets. The new classrooms were for Health & PE classes and were to be constructed over top of an existing tennis court but required significant storm water attenuation & foundation works.
The build had to be completed in school time so Health & Safety was paramount. With students & staff on site, coordinating the delivery of materials, the movements of sub-contractors & the removal of any waste, had to be planned & controlled well. This project was completed on time even though there were a few days with inclement weather & under budget.
Whangarei Girls High School were extremely pleased with the result & are looking forward to working with us in the future.
“We are delighted with the workmanship and quality finish of the new build. NPM showed an attention to detail and were fastidious with finishing work.
Secondly, we were impressed by the professionalism of NPM. They had excellent systems in place for Health and Safety, and for overall management of the project. This was particularly important to us as the build was in school time.
They liaised well with the school and Project Managers and were obliging in adapting and providing small extras and alterations. Nothing was too much trouble.
Having managed property at Whangarei Girls High for 14 years, this was one of the easiest and most satisfying construction projects I have been involved with, largely due to NPM’s professionalism.
The school has no hesitation in recommending NPM as a most suitable builder to the Education sector, or other commercial sectors.” – Kevin Dean, Deputy Principal, Whangarei Girls High School
