Retaining
Retaining walls have a practical and visual effect. Retaining walls transform steep or sloping sites into useable flat areas for house sites, turning or parking areas. They are required for creating ground stability and attractive boundary edges.
Steve Bowling Contracting offer several options for retaining. The most common retaining system in Northland is timber post and rail. This option is used in both residential and landscaping, also in bigger structural walls where a slip has created a dangerous slope. Retaining walls up to 1.5 metres in height do not require council permits unless they are close to a house or are holding up a parking area or similar. Any walls higher than 1.5 metres will need an engineers input. Steve Bowling Contracting can look after all engineering permits, consents, etc. right through to the completed product.
Keystone
Segmental retaining walls like keystone are gaining in popularity. We use the latest design methods and use this system for smaller landscape and residential to larger retaining walls for subdivisions, etc.
Gabion Walls
Gabion walls are popular in marine and river bank situations. They are also used in road batter stabilization. They are a simple and cost effective system and can be used on walls up to four and five metres high.
Palisade Walls
Palisade walls are growing in popularity as a means of stabilizing steep slopes and cliff top properties especially as land values increase.Palisade walls are constructed using reinforced concrete or timber poles at close centres with or without a capping beam.
